Google Using Toolbar Data for Discovery
This has been happening for a long, long time, but Google does use more than just inbound links to discover websites or web pages. The other day I was looking through one of my website’s “recent visitors” logs, and lo-and-behold, I noted a Googlebot hit on a page… a page that was, first of all, dynamic (somefile.htm?do=something), and second of all — not referenced anywhere online.
Instant Niche Marketing Research
Something that some people overlook is just how easy niche research can be. Even if you don’t really know how to perform niche research, this is an uber-simple way to find targeted niches… niches that you have already expressed interest in, none-the-less.
Make Articles from Article Directories “Unique”
I was just thinking of something today – thinking of a way that I could use free articles in article directories without having to worry (as much) about the duplicate content penalty. At this point in my work, I don’t have a lot of “free time” to sit & write content for all of my different websites and website promotion needs – but I need to update my Wordpress blogs from time to time – and I think I may have thought of a plausible answer.
Liberal Use of ‘Nofollow’
Over the last several months I’ve become more aware of the importance of the rel=nofollow tag, not only for links to 3rd party websites, but for my own internal linking structure as well.
I actually started testing the “method” of liberal use of the nofollow tag for internal links on my freelance writing website last month, and with the limited time that’s passed since then, I think I’m seeing a positive result.
Suck it up Whiny Webmasters
Part of my role as a freelance writer is to stay atop the trends, specifically within the realm of optimization, marketing and website development. Because of this I am constantly seeing website owners griping about Google’s stance against paid linking strategies.
