Free Word to Text Converter Tool

Word documents are notorious for not converting well to plain text. A lot of people go to great lengths, and have to jump through a lot of hoops, to convert their Word document over into non-MS-tag-laden text. I was one of them, not too long ago, anyway.

However, I stumbled upon this website which offers up a free Word-to-text conversion tool, which worked out pretty well. I downloaded the supplied source code, and created a page on my local server to convert my Word documents when needed.

In any case, I recently tweaked the source code to use on another website, and I thought I would share the ‘revamped’ tool here.

This updated script is easier to use than the original, in my opinion, if for no other reason than my version will let you clear the fields with the push of a button, which could be helpful if you need to clean up multiple documents.
