jonathanMon, 15 Feb 2010 21:02:48 +0000http://www.inowebmarketing.com/?p=318#comment-9554I have noticed this with a few sites at work - I think its the google 'parameters' thing - randomly a load of 404 pages will show in webmaster tools - things for pages that have 0 links to them (because they dont exist) they usually show for a week or two then go away. if google does find a parameter that is valid (eg ?page=5) then it will try lots of random values against that parameter (eg ?page=105694) again, generating 404's.
it gets pretty frustraiting when customers say 'why are all these pages not found' and you have to explain it all to them - it makes you feel like you are shifting the blame to google. (even though it is their fault!)
