Revamping the Website

I’ve been looking for a different template for quite a while now, but I think that I have found something suitable – at least something that I am willing to try out.

I really want a theme that has a fluid width & takes up 100% of the browser window, but my reasoning for that is so that I have a bigger writable area for posts. Yesterday I found an awesome Wordpress theme on Blogging Pro, which I rather like. I actually found this theme through the post on Smasing Magazine’s website in their post titled ‘100 excellent free Wordpress themes’. At this point I’m not overly concerend with having a unique Wordpress template – but I wanted something a little bit ‘more’ than my off-gray templates of choice that I’ve used for the last 2 years here – plus I wanted a 3 column template.

My biggest challenge is going to be updating the theme with my NoFollow rules… it took me several hours to get things tweaked to the way I like them. If you have a Firefox plugin like Search Status, you can view the nofollow links on my website – All of my category page links are nofollowed, and the tag cloud is nofollowed on my internal pages, but followed on my main website. I’m doing this to test a “shaping Page Rank” theory, which some state that we can’t really shape Page Rank because we don’t know the true Page Rank of a page… but over the last 2 months I’ve seen traffic pickups from Google and less “non-important” pages in its index and more of my important pages in the index (80ish of my 94 total posts on this site are indexed in Google).

In any case – back to the point… you’ll be seeing some changes here probably in the next few days – I want to get the new theme as ready as possible before I load it here so that I don’t throw search engines into too much of a tizzy.
