Make Articles from Article Directories “Unique”

I was just thinking of something today – thinking of a way that I could use free articles in article directories without having to worry (as much) about the duplicate content penalty. At this point in my work, I don’t have a lot of “free time” to sit & write content for all of my different websites and website promotion needs – but I need to update my Wordpress blogs from time to time – and I think I may have thought of a plausible answer.

The problem with syndicating free articles

The biggest problem with snagging free articles from the plethora of available article directories is that they’re not unique. What’s worse – some of them are submitted to hundreds of article directories and unless you’ve got a high-trust website, chances are you, as a website owner, won’t be seeing any benefit from the articles in terms of increased traffic from search engines. The only one who would possible win here is the author of the article. Now, it’s not that I have a problem with that as that’s the whole purpose of article marketing… but if I’m going to use pre-written content on my website, I want to at least have a shot of getting something out of it.

My Theory

Today I’m going to start testing out my theory on a couple of websites and see what the results are. You can see what I’ve done on my resell rights blog. Basically, I’ve taken a pre-written article and created 200ish supporting words that I’ve placed above the article.

In addition to that – I didn’t use the article’s title as the title for the blog post – I have my own unique title & even URL (cuz I’m using a SEO friendly title element plugin).

The article that I used for that blog already has 84 references in Google for the exact title – so it has a bit of distribution already. But I am going to try this method out and see if it makes a difference for me.

My hope is that with the extra head text, that I won’t get caught up in the search engine filters that trap significantly duplicate content from out of the view of the main SERPs. I think that if I wanted to be really effective with this that I should add a blurb after the article as well… but for me, the purpose of syndicating content is so that I don’t have to think too much. I’m a fast writer, but there are days when I don’t want to have to think-through a topic to be able to post it on one of my many (many) blogs.

In any case – this may not be a unique idea, but it’s unique to me. I’ve never heard about this before. But – if you’ve used this method, I would love to hear from you about your results. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can try it out for yourself… I make no claims as to whether this will help you get around the duplicate content filters – but it’s just a now-working theory that I’m trying out myself.

It’s indeed an adventurous idea, but the fact that you are going to use articles from other people and then place them on your website (changing the title, adding some contents to it) is one way of plagiarism – and it isn’t good. However, like you’ve said, it’s just something like a try-out for you. :)

I think you failed to look at the referenced website…

I didn’t mention anything about modifying the 3rd party author’s content nor modifying their article’s title.

    Here’s what I wrote:

“…You can see what I’ve done on my resell rights blog. Basically, I’ve taken a pre-written article and created 200ish supporting words that I’ve placed above the article…”

“…In addition to that – I didn’t use the article’s title as the title for the blog post – I have my own unique title & even URL (cuz I’m using a SEO friendly title element plugin)…”

And, if you had looked at the website I referenced, you would have seen this:

“…Here’s a guest article explaining one of the many methods that you can use to make money with resell rights products. Please forgive the poor formatting – this is how the article was formatted, and I don’t have rights to change it…”

I left their title intact – and you can see it highlighted on the referenced page. As one who uses article marketing and one who was at one time a full-time web content writer, I get annoyed by people who take my work without giving me my credit. I didn’t even change the formatting of the article, as crappy as it was.

I have yet to notice an article directory that states each syndicated article must be placed on a unique page using the article title as the title element of the 3rd party web page – All I have done is taken an article that is listed in an article directory and added it to a page with some other content on it – I haven’t modified a thing.

I just wanted to clear some things up… cuz it seems in your endeavor to get a backlink (which I modified your “name” for you – I don’t think your name is “free article directories”, I was going to put “free Norwegian cruises”… but I thought it a bit much) you misinterpreted what I had written. Probably not intentional… but still – I don’t think you really read what I wrote before posting your comment.
