Conquering your Competitors in the SERPs

In today’s competitive online marketplace it’s becoming more and more difficult for website owners to carve out their own unique spot in our digital world. A lot of times, unfortunately, internet business owners seek out guidance on how to improve their websites search engine rankings from webmaster forums and blogs, much like my own, where the information on search engine optimization strategies is based on hearsay and gossip rather than time-tested methodologies.

Now, I’m in no way stating that the information I provide is based on speculation. . . I’ve been working in the “webmastering” field, hands on, since 2002; I’ve got quite a bit of experience with real-world application of search engine optimization techniques. My point is that there’s a lot of “SEO gossip” floating around the ‘net today; most of it harmless but far from effective or efficient.

This is going to be a multi-part series. . . I would not even attempt to cram what I am looking to share in one blog post; that’d be insane. Who would sit and read a 20,000 word blog post? Probably nobody.

What I am going to do is share my wealth of knowledge that I have accrued over the years and hopefully help some of you to have a better understanding of how to improve your websites rankings in the search engines. There is so much garbage and nonsense floating around today. . . it can drive you batty. Well intentioned, but severely misguided people tell you to build a boatload of links while others tell you to soup up your web pages for keyword perfection; it’s not quite so simple. Effective search engine optimization is not about throwing a bunch of crap up against the wall and seeing what sticks, it’s a systematic and methodical approach that requires a bit of thinking and a bunch of “legwork”.

Anyway – this post is just here to state the fact that this series is in the development process, I’ll be starting out talking about choosing a domain name – and that post will be added in a couple of days.
