Freelance Writing Experiment Update #1

Well, it’s only been a day or so since my last post about the freelance writing experiment that I have decided to undertake, and because of a comment that I received, I think I need to go into a bit more detail.

The ultimate goal of this experiment is to prove to other writers that they can, indeed, make money by creating content for Associated Content and Constant Content; now, I don’t know from first-hand experience that these two writers resources will be able to produce what I would consider a full-time income, but according to a comment posted by the president of Associated Content, there are many writers on Associated Content that make hundreds and even thousands of dollars per month.

I have no way of knowing this information myself, but I can see where a writer could make hundreds of dollars per month consistently. . . though thousands, on a consistent basis, seems to be a bit far stretched. Now, there was no mention of consistency in the comment itself, so I am not rebutting or disagreeing in any capacity with the comment made.

What I consider to be a full-time income

I live in the USA, thus I am going to use what I would consider a “livable” income for myself or others in this area when coming to my conclusion at the end of this experiment. Of course, I have to take into consideration that many writers use these writing resources in order to supplement their current income; maybe it’s a stay at home mom or dad, a retiree or a disabled individual that receives limited assistance.

So – I think the tentative “goal” I will be setting, considering these other factors, is $250-$300 per week. Now, because I write full time myself, I cannot even entertain the thought of stopping my work to try this experiment, rather I am going to weigh out how much content I’ve written, how long it takes me to write it and how much I received for that content in order to determine whether I, or somebody else, could turn Associated Content and Constant Content into either a supplemental or full-time income.

Something that has to be considered regarding Constant Content is that sometimes content does not sell. I would assume that it’s a mixture of the lack of exposure for a certain writer and the lack of demand for the type of content that the writer is producing…. I would hate to have this whole experiment go by without selling one piece on Constant Content, but we will see how that turns out.
