Writing Contest: Taking Ideas

I want to have a writing contest. . . but I’m not sure what about. I will be offering cash prizes for 3 places; though I’m not too sure what the topic/focus should be.

I do have an idea that might be suitable, I think that it actually be helpful for a lot of people as well. My idea for the writing contest topic is “How to make money freelance writing” or something of the sort; with specific regards to web content writing.

While people that are familiar with internet marketing undoubtedly have the upper hand and know where to get writing gigs online; there are a plethora of people who pretty much don’t know a thing about web content writing: they only know about print writing. While there’s a difference in the pay scale for most web writers (most print writers wouldn’t dream of writing for what some web content writers work for); if you establish a good name and have some decent writing skills – you can do very well; no matter what genre you’re working with.

I would love some ideas for writing topics – this contest is really only a thought at the moment, but I think that it’d be fun and in the end could be pretty profitable for the participants due to widespread visibility of their contest entry.
