Effective Offline Marketing Training for the Anti-Social Introvert
This past weekend I went to my first “First Steps to Success” seminar by Dani Johnson. All I can say is it was incredible. It was a seminar to help network marketers improve their business – though the information that was shared can be used in many facets of life, not just network marketing.
By nature I am a very quiet person: I keep to myself and would rather be in front of a computer screen than in a group of 2 or more people, or even talking to someone that I don’t know for that matter. Not that I am shy; but I more or less lead the life of an anti-social introvert. If I don’t have to meet new people, I am more than ok with that.
However, this past weekend things changed in me. No, I didn’t turn into some uber friendly social butterfly; I think it’s my mindset that has changed. I’m not actually sure exactly what the thing is – but the seminar really birthed something in me. This seminar was not the typical scene that you get for company specific network marketing seminars or direct sales rallies that are filled with the usual hype and fluff, not to mention the overpriced tickets for these events. The principals and tactics shared during this past weekend were practical applications that can make you a lot of money.
I was not even in a network marketing business when I went to this seminar. But now? I want to get involved in one. It’s not because of any hype or even a mention from anyone else (these seminars follow a very strict anti-recruiting policy during the weekend or anytime after the weekend) – it’s because my vision was too small before. Before this past weekend I would have been satisfied if I were making $2,000 a week with whatever business I was into. Not to say that that’s bad money – most families can probably live on that amount very comfortably. It’s not because of greed: Greed is an ugly monster that will destroy you if you let your life or actions be dictated by it. I’ve boiled it down to a couple of reasons: one is good, one is not so good.
The first reason: to provide for my family and to have an abundance so that I can give freely. I’m human, and something could happen to me at any time; irregardless of my age. I want something left for my wife and child besides credit card bills. I would also like to get to the point that I could give away most of my income to help with things that I see as important.
The second reason: because I love a challenge. In a way – this can be likened to pride; and I don’t like thinking of it that way. I am a driven person: I get on a project and I push and push to get it completed. I am also a very confident person in many areas. If I set my mind to something – I will accomplish it, there is no “maybe” about it there is no “trying” to do it: I will do it. Maybe the amount of time it takes to accomplish the goal may be pushed – but the end result is there.
Back to when I stated that my vision was too small. Yes, $2,000 per week is a very decent income for most. Before this past weekend I would have been ecstatic to be making that much on a consistent basis. Not anymore, though. Of course I will always be content with whatever I have because it does no good to gripe. There is no need to complain or gripe about the lack of money I have because if I am lacking something in my life: It is my fault. Not my Bosses fault, (I don’t have a boss, just an example, though), Not my wifes fault, Not my friends fault: It’s my fault. If I’m not happy with what I have I need to get off my butt and get something else going. To personalize this: If you’re not happy with what you have in life: get off your butt and do something about it! There is nobody to blame for your lack of something except yourself. Yes, there are exceptions to every rule: but if you can walk, talk and see: there should be no reason that you cannot get yourself out of this rut. Time to lose the excuses and do something about your situation.
Yah. . . all of this coming from the anti-social introvert. . .who’s starting to come out of his shell.
I’ll post further on this topic in the near future.
