Pay for Cable/Satellite but overwhelmed by ads
I was watching a movie on I believe FX this evening. This station plays movies sometimes but they get split by commercials (in case you’re not familiar). Not a big deal.
However, I am in the middle of watching the movie and a bar that takes up a quarter of my screen slides up to show some special offer or whatnot for an amusement park & some allergy medicine. Now I’m used to the little plugs that networks will put in the corner during a show (like for news, the following tv show, etc & it’s usually not for more than 5-10 seconds). These ads were on the screen no less than 15 seconds with scrolling text.
My question is this: We already pay a good dollar to watch these tv channels & we’re forced to view commercials in between our shows. Has it really come to where we’re going to have to endure advertisements even during a movie or tv show with pay tv service? It’d be the same thing if I paid my $8 to see some movie at the theater & had somebody waving a sign in front of the screen every 20 minutes: it’s not gonna make me want your product, you’re just making me angry.
I already pay for this stuff: when it’s on, let me view in peace.
Just my thoughts on it, feel free to share yours if you’ve experienced it.
